Quick. Go check your Google Analytics dashboard. Do you see anything new there yet?
Here’s what we see at our end.
Yes, there is the NEW shiny “Sitelinks metrics” in the analytics dashboard under the “Adwords” section. This is a small step that can make a huge difference to the advertisers and the agencies using the Google adwords and the analytics in conjunction for either themselves or for their clients. Before this little change, they had to manually download reports after segmenting (This Extension vs Other) to retrieve data from Adwords. Before this little change, they had to manually download reports after segmenting (This Extension vs Other) to retrieve data from Adwords. With this nifty change, there is no need to segment the data for sitelink extension in Adwords thus saving time and effort of downloading data from 2 different sources. The screenshots below provide an example of the data that was retrieved from Google Adwords earlier on and is now available readily from analytics dashboard –
There are the following benefits from this change:-
- One more step towards having 1 simple dashboard to analyse the Adwords performance without going in Adwords interface. Sitelink extension is one of the most used extension and we believe that is why the change for that extension only to start with.
- No loss of time and resources collecting data from 2 different sources and ease of use for data manipulation.
- More comprehensive reporting and easier understanding of the data with the integration of additional aspects of Google adwords into Google analytics.
What’s more exciting is this is an unannounced feature yet and we did not find Google’s official links or any information on the Adwords blog and Analytics blog. It is quite possible that Google is rolling this out in a phased manner and it’s a staged rollout just like most of the Google’s products but hey we are not complaining. So expect this to appear for you in a few days, if it has not already shown up for you.
Google rolled out the integration for sitelink extension first as we use them more often over other extensions. It would be great if Google come with the same thing for Call extension as well for Mobile Click to call data. But yeah, it’s a good start and we hope Google continues the momentum of these little positive changes.
